The N7 Piranha is a shotgun in Mass Effect 3 and Mass Effect: Andromeda.
N7 Piranha is a low-recoil assault shotgun with a wide pellet spread designed for the Reaper war. It might not be very accurate but it shoots fast and brings high damage to anyone at the close range distance. It is a perfect weapon of choice for those dealing with classes like krogan, vorcha or Project Phoenix humans. N7 Piranha is fully automatic and if you are not careful, you can appear standing without ammo in no time. A Vanguard armed with this shotgun is one of the most deadly forces on the front lines and only with 2-3 clips it can kill a Banshee at full stats and 2 clips will be enough to kill a Brute. Geth Infiltrator can benefit from this weapon as well, especially with Tactical

In the Legendary Edition it is available from the Spectre Requisitions terminal in the Citadel Embassies for a base amount of 125,000 credits.
With a great deal of spending discipline and completion of some side missions, the player can buy and begin upgrading this weapon before Priority: Tuchanka.
Additionally, remember that buying the weapon from the Citadel is marginally cheaper than buying from the Normandy.

- The N7 Piranha can be devastatingly powerful, especially if the damage or rate of fire is bumped up through powers. Its potential is limited to close-range combat, however, as the weapon suffers from a very steep damage reduction at longer ranges due to the very large pellet spread even at short distances.
- While not as large of a pellet spread as the AT-12 Raider, the spread is still very large. Because of the pellet spread of the N7 Piranha, it is not a bad idea to fire without aiming down sights, since the accuracy and recoil of the weapon are very forgiving. The damage done to a target will usually be enough to stun them, giving you the perfect opportunity for a salvo of follow-up shots.
However, a Shotgun Smart Choke will drastically narrow the pellet spread, making it somewhat more viable for mid-range combat, especially against large targets such as Atlases and Brutes.
- The recoil on this weapon is very easy to control, requiring little to no correction.
- The Piranha is fully automatic, and can chew through ammo quickly if the player is not careful.
When aiming down sights, instead of the typical shotgun's circle reticle you will see cross-hairs like that of other weapon classes. The cross-hairs will give the player a spread covering almost the entire screen. Firing from cover can remedy this.
- The N7 Piranha at level I is more powerful than the M-23 Katana at level X (with matching mods). A Vanguard armed with the Piranha is one of the most deadly forces on the front lines. Using a Biotic Charge to stagger an opponent will buy you enough time to empty the clip and run back for a reload before the opponent recovers, if they survive the first clip.
- Weighing in at 1.5 times the M-23 Katana's level X weight, it still leaves space for a light sidearm. Having a secondary weapon is a must as the six thermal clips in reserve (with 8 rounds each) go amazingly fast with the Piranha's fast fire-rate.
