Planescape: Torment - Enhanced Edition - Let's Play | The Hive - Sev'Tai, Ingress, Angyar | E4
Welcome to this Planescape Torment Enhanced Edition Let's Play! In this fourth Lets play episode (E4) we start investigating the Mortuary area of the Hive, having a chat with various people and picking up information and quests while we do. We talk to Sev'Tai, Ingress, The Post, Angyar and Wife of Angyar, Quentin, Death-of-Names and Annah
Annah
Annah-of-the-Shadows, also known simply as Annah, is one of The Nameless One's companions in Planescape: Torment Enhanced Edition. She is a fiendling or tiefling (part human, part demon) adopted by Pharod. She is proficient in thievery, can switch TNO to the thief class and instruct him in thief skills, whereupon he can teach her in his thieving skills above 50%.
Death-of-Names
Death-of-Names is the Dustman in charge of the Memorial in the Mortuary Area. The memorial is an open roofed building with a looming obelisk at its center. Death-of-Names buries the names of the dead by scraching them in the stone of the obelisk and nearby walls. When asked about a name, he can scan the area at inhuman speed and point to where it was buried.
Ingress
A plaything of the Planes, Ingress has been mutilated by her failed attempts to return to her home through the many portals in Sigil. For thirty years, she has been living in the Mortuary Area of the Hive, unwilling to step through a doorway for fear of accidentally stepping through a portal again.
Sev'Tai
Sev'Tai is a tiefling grieving the death of her three sisters in the Dustmen Memorial, to the west of the Mortuary.
Angyar
Angyar is a man who sold his corpse to the Dustmen to be raised as a Zombie after his death. He bitterly regrets signing the Dead Contract, and his mood has suffered tremendously for it.
Wife-of-Angyar
Wife-of-Angyar is, as her name suggests, Angyar's Wife. She can be found at their home in the Hive's Mortuary Area.
The Nameless one
The being now known only as The Nameless One is one of the closest things the multiverse has to an immortal. Precisely how long he has lived or how many reincarnations he has had is unknown, but judging from some of the contacts he has made (Lum the Mad, among others) he is probably at least several thousand years old, and a former "incarnation" notes that he has died several thousand times.
The Hive
The Hive is a ward of the city of Sigil, and the first area in Planescape: Torment. Mostly comprised of slums and fallen to disrepair, the sector is home to the city's poor and destitute, forging a living as thugs, harlots or collectors.
The rest of the city's inhabitants give the Hive a wide berth.
The Mortuary Area (AR0200)
The Mortuary Area is located in the northeastern part of the Hive. It is one of the least poverty-ridden areas in the Hive, although its inhabitants still live in squalor.
The Dustmen claim this area, between their bar and their Mortuary. Harlots, thugs and pickpockets roam the streets, and collectors venture here in order to sell corpses to the Dustmen.
Planescape Torment Enhanced Edition is a technically updated version of the original Planescape Torment, while the story remains the same. There are innumerable bug fixes though, as well as enhanced graphics, new shiny features such as zoom and more enhancements like that. Now the game is available both for PC, and for tablets, which is great for casual play. This episode 1 of Planescape Torment Enhanced Edition Let's Play uses the pc version though.
Enhanced Edition Planescape: Torment is primarily story-driven and combat is not prominently featured. The protagonist, known as The Nameless One, is an immortal who has lived many lives but has forgotten all about them, even forgetting his own name. This Planescape Torment Enhanced Edition Let's Play focuses on his journey through the city of Sigil and other planes to reclaim his memories of these previous lives. Several characters in the game may join The Nameless One on his journey, and most of these characters have encountered him in the past or have been influenced by his actions in some way.
The original Planescape Torment was made by BioWare in 1999, and had only moderate comercial success. The game itself however was, in my opinion, the peak of BioWare’s Advanced Dungeons and Dragons series. Following the success of Baldur’s Gate Enhanced edition Beamdog have gone and updated Planescape Torment as well, and now, 18 years after the original release, we have Planescape Torment Enhanced Edition in our hands, which feels truly exciting to me.
