Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee - Clefairy Only Run
Michael beats "Pokémon: Let's Go Eevee" with just Clefairy! This video comes with live commentary. I tried to only show the rival and gym battles, so the video wouldn't be too long, but I still ended up with a three-hour video!
The first gym is extremely tough, because Clefairy doesn't have access to TMs or good fighting moves. Pretty much every attack does one damage against the enemies in the gym. Double Slap proves to be somewhat helpful, because it does the one damage attack several times. The downside is that the Clefairy which is high enough level to know Double Slap is incredibly disobedient. Potions help the Clefairies survive this twenty-minute battle.
Since obedience was a major issue in the first gym, I get new Clefairies at Mount Moon. Clefairy is a fairly poor fighter, until you get access to good TMs around the time you can first reach Celadon City. That's around the time Clefairy learns a fairy-type attack move. I made a point to get both fairy-type attack moves in the game, along with psychic.
Clefairy still isn't that good; Clefairy does especially badly against Team Rocket. Right before the final Silph Co. battle, I give my main Clefairy a bunch of rare candy. With a level 70 Clefairy, the rest of the game is much easier than normal, although Clefairy is still not good enough to kill all enemies in one hit. I had to rely on stat-boosting items to get through the Elite Four.
