Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky Playthrough 76: Rayquaza and the Sky Melodica
The last treasure remaining is the Sky Melodica, located at Sky Stairway, which we did visit when we accepted Mewtwo's Challenge Request, but this time we will have to fight another Legendary Pokémon, it is Rayquaza, a Pokémon said to have lived for millions of years in the ozone layer, and at the top of this 50 floor dungeon.
As the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description.
This isn't out first visit to Sky Stairway, because we had a Challenge Request from Mewtwo way back which took place in this dungeon, but we didn't go for the seven treasures back then. Like I had explained last time, the Pokémon encountered in Sky Stairway are Rhydon, Gabite, Gastly, Magnemite, Ambipom, Raichu, Vulpix, Muk, Ditto, Jumpluff, Misdreavus, Forretress, Steelix, Skarmory, Claydol, Banette, Duskull, Shelgon, Metang, Mothim, Tangrowth, Leafeon, Probopass, Gliscor, Togekiss, Spiritomb, Haunter, Magneton, Gengar, Drifloon and Dusknoir.
Most of the Pokémon encountered in this dungeon have appeared in the future dungeons, and they couldn't be recruited then, and this dungeon gives you a chance to add these Pokémon onto your team. Dusknoir only shows up on the 49th floor only after unlocking Marine Resort.
Even though Spiritomb is not a Legendary Pokémon, its Exclusive Item, the Shadow Veil can be found in Zero Isle North on the 22nd floor, since the Legendary Pokémon's Exclusive Items are found behind locked doors requiring a key to open it, Spiritomb is one of only two non-Legendary Pokémon to have its Exclusive Item obtained in a treasure box, the other being Rotom.
As for the guardian of Sky Stairway, Rayquaza is a tough opponent unless you brought some Ice type moves with you. It is Level 49, and for its possible moves, it can use Dragon Dance to boost its Attack and movement speed, as well as deal a lot of damage with Dragon Claw, Crunch and Fly. For its level up moves, Rayquaza can learn Extreme Speed, Outrage, Hyper Beam and Dragon Pulse, and it learns a wide variety of moves of different types through TMs, like Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Flamethrower, Earthquake, Surf, Waterfall, Focus Blast, Shadow Claw, Energy Ball, Rock Slide, Swords Dance and many other moves, making Rayquaza one versatile Pokémon.
Much like the other members of its trio, Rayquaza's Exclusive Item, the SkyHigh Veil, obtained in Deep Spacial Rift on the 9th floor, increases Rayquaza's Attack Speed by 1 during clear weather conditions, and since Rayquaza's Air Lock Ability cancels out weather, any Pokémon with Exclusive Items that boost Evasion of Movement Speed, like Pidgeot, Fearow, Golduck, Ledian and Medicham make great partners for Rayquaza.
The Sky Melodica is one of the seven treasures, guarded by Rayquaza. It is said to increase the chances of recruiting Flying type Pokémon.
