Pokemon Omega Ruby - 0 Exp Part 13: Wallace (gym battle)
Our last gym battle... and the first battle against Wallace apparently? I have never actually done the Delta Episode on prior normal runs, always opting to restart the game and try out a new party instead (how I tend to play Pokemon basically; very hard to get me to do the postgame).

Wallace is not terribly hard, as his party is an updated version of the gym fight in vanilla Ruby/Sapphire as opposed to the more competent party he employs in the champion battle in Emerald (apparently, said party makes a triumphant comeback in the Delta episode). Luvdisc, Sealeo (I guess he didn't evolve it into Walrein so that Glacia could claim a unique Pokemon for herself? its level is exactly high enough to evolve) and Seaking aren't exactly the toughest mons around (cough), Whiscash can be cheesed by penetrating its double weakness with, well, anything (could've had Leaf Storm Tropius do the job I imagine), and that leaves only Milotic as the sole truly challenging mon. My initial strategy copied my old 0 exp Sapphire strat and had Wobbuffet OHKO Milotic with Mirror Coat (the old Sapphire recording also had an epic situation in which Ice Beam froze Wobbuffet), but I decided that using Wobbuffet for anything is a bit cheesy in how safe it tends to be, and looked for another solution.
In this battle, I tried to demonstrate as many different Pokemon as possible because a sweep with some of them was both possible and not particularly tough to achieve. Luvdisc is easily the weakest of the bunch, with Water Pulse not hurting much, and is a good mon to set up Sunny Day with Heat Rock Drought Ninetales against. This both strengthens our Solarbeam users and weakens everything that may try to use water-type moves against us (Hydro Pump Milotic being the biggest concern). Confusion because of the annoying ass Sweet Kiss can slow down Ninetales, but it should do the job fast enough, Solarbeam OHKOing Luvdisc at +1 sp. atk. from Calm Mind.
Wallace doesn't take long to bring out his finest Pokemon. Milotic comes out, its Hydro Pump no longer being a preferred option for attacking things. Electrode can now 2HKO with Life Orb Thunderbolt while easily surviving Ice Beam + 2 turns of Life Orb recoils. As you would imagine, it outspeeds the target.
Vileplume and Mega Heracross take care of the rest, with the question being who does what being mostly arbitrary (well, Sunny Day MAY run out by the time Seaking comes out). Heracross gets Skill Link (and some monstrous offence) as a mega, taking care of either target, while Vileplume is more than fast enough to outspeed and OHKO with instant Solarbeam.
This is purely theorymon but I do predict the rematch against Wallace being the hardest fight in the game, as I barely have any ways of dealing with water-types by the point when they're 15-ish levels higher. Between Drake, Steven and Zinnia, it'll be interesting to see who really is the toughest trainer in this challenge. And unlike the XY 0 exp runthrough, I do expect things to get hard because we're actually severely underlevelled now.
