It seems like we fought Brendan only a little while ago (before the last big city) and yet here he is demanding a rematch, not letting us pass otherwise. This make the least sense in vanilla RSE where he fights you for the last time before mysteriously disappearing from the game's storyline.

The big change, aside from some movesets changing, is Swellow being introduced - no clue why it took him 6 badges to catch a Taillow/Swellow when one is available so early, but common sense is not something to be suspected in Brendan's decisions, it appears.

I last faced a Swellow in the previous video, against Winona, but this time I'm not repeating the Mega Mawile gimmick. Safari Zone gives access to lv. 30 Pikachus, which are statistically superior to the Cosplay Pika we've been using for such an oddly long time, and we can make said Pikachu even stronger with the help of Light Ball which can be picked up after Fortree Gym. Needless to say, Swellow falls to a single Volt Switch.

Magcargo is a disgrace as usual. Now that it's evolved, it may be tougher but the 4x weakness to water and ground coupled with bottom tier speed means players usually have something to OHKO it before it gets to act. It's basically a different variation of Graveler or something (except the Geodude line got a Sturdy upgrade last gen, something Magcargo could also probably use).

The last two Pokemon is when I show off another gimmick of mine. Mt Pyre can be accessed at this point, and I went there to chain lotsa Vulpixes with DexNav until I had very good chances of getting a Drought Vulpix with satisfactory stats. I've had one Fire Stone lying around my inventory, so this is the perfect opportunity to get some strategies reminiscent of the competitive metagame going in this run. Evolved Ninetales can also be taught Flamethrower and Nasty Plot via move relearner, so it destroys Sceptile (surprisingly not a OHKO without a boost), though its attacks also tend to hurt (even with a crappy moveset with Dual Chop as the strongest move this time around). Solarbeam OHKOs Wailord at +2 special attack.

That's not the last time we're seeing Brendan as he'll be back for a rematch after we're league champions. I'll probably not make a separate video for that considering fighting Steven is the real culmination of the run, but we'll see what happens when I get that far, we'll see.
