Pokemon Omega Ruby - 0 Exp Part 11: Liza & Tate
I may have taken the word 'gimmick' to a new extreme in this one...

The next gym leader (-s, rather) we have to face are twins Liza and Tate, who I believe are notorious among Pokemon players for how weak they are. Not even Lt Surge is this helpless, and you can literally OHKO all of his Pokemon with a base level Dugtrio in the Kanto games. The twins are somewhat more interesting in Emerald, where they're given two extra Pokemon so that you just might be challenged by some of them, but with the remakes in Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire we're back to square one where they're utterly incompetent yet again.
Once again, Lunatone has no damaging moves other than Psychic so if you have a dark-type in and Solrock is down, no matter what you do, you cannot lose. Solrock is actually a little more decent this time around, with the powerful Rock Slide in its arsenal as well as Sunny Day/Solarbeam to aid with hurting enemies the other moves don't handle very well.
I promised my lv. 8 Skitty (the same one that dealt with Brawly and then made a return to torture Norman's Slaking) would be returning, and there she is! Fake Out on Solrock first turn while Lunatone falls to Sharpedo's boosted Crunch, the same Crunch falling just a little short of OHKOing Solrock next turn. Solrock cannot kill Sharpedo in spite of its lack of durability so it will be trying to set up Sunny Day for a Solarbeam OHKO, something Skitty prevented first turn. When Solrock gets to that the following turn, Skitty inflicts Toxic on it, which is always just enough to send it to its grave. Shadow Ball didn't have the damage output I'd predicted it would give me so I kept the old anti-Slaking moves in.
As humiliating and cheesy as this is, I don't think this battle can actually be done in a 'normal' / different way that would give me a more adequate outcome, and a lv. 40 Crawdaunt doesn't speed up the fight any more than a lv. 8 Skitty does (has more to do with the fact that I got unlucky with a -atk nature Crawdaunt, who can't OHKO anything here), somehow. I think a 0 exp run would benefit a lot from double battles being more frequent.
That said, gotta love those lv. 40 mons I can now fish out with the Super Rods. The first lv. 40 mon I got was actually Electrode from Team Magma's base, which proved useful for a while, though I dunno if it will have any utility in the E4 (it can, like, go first set up Light Screen or Rain Dance... idk, doesn't seem so useful to me). The reason why 40 is a notable number is that this is the highest level Victory Road Pokemon come at, albeit not quite the highest level you can have a Pokemon at in this challenge.
Also, I'd like to thank everybody who helped out with the formation of Bond Units the last couple days. In only a little more than 24 hours, I gave birth to 8 bond units, which accomplished everything I'd intended to accomplish with it. Expect a video of what I have been trying to achieve very soon.
