Another encounter with a Team Galactic commander. Here again, we have a Zubat with a rare move (this time it's Giga Drain; what a surprise for you if you thought Geodude has a good matchup here!) and a Pokemon that evolved way too early - this time it's Skuntank.

I do have a Pokemon that OHKOs Zubat, and it's the one Pokemon I failed to show off in the previous video, in spite of having tried. Cranidos apparently OHKOs without any need for STAB or super-effectiveness, since its attack is huge and Take Down's power is nice too. I'm glad it didn't miss twice in a row, but that kinda stuff can happen pretty often, I think most of us playing these games can testify.

Skuntank is one of the two Pokemon families introduced in this generation with a unique typing - Poison/Dark, the other being Drapion. Its only weakness is ground, so it can be hard to take down.

I switch Shinx in for Intimidate, and then have Machop soften its defence with Leers. This doesn't make Geodude's Magnitude (!6 - 50 BP, 20% chance) strong enough to OHKO however, but the next one does the job.

Magnitude's not a bad move I find. 65% chance to proc a base power of 70 or higher is very good for the point of the game you usually get it. I like it a lot in GSC at least!

Also, Rotom can be caught at this point, but I postpone it until after this fight. I actually went ahead and made it so that I can access the various Rotom formes for this challenge, so that I'd have a little more fun! Too bad lv. 20 gets obsolete rather quickly.
