If there was one thing I don't like about Pokémon Stadium, it's that most of the fully evolved Electric-type Pokémon have Thunder, and I have had times where I have lost battles in the Gym Leader Castle all because I have had Thunder miss, and while I did get it to hit against Grimer, I could only wonder how different things would have been had Magneton's Thunder missed and Grimer got a critical hit with Explosion, as the CPU has two Water-type Pokémon, and the only other Pokémon that I have is Koffing which does have Thunderbolt, but it does not get STAB and it might not be able to hold its own against Golduck.
I don't get the best Rental Pokémon team, there is Hypno which doesn't have a reliable Psychic-type move and is reliant on putting the opponent to sleep with Hypnosis in order to work, Goldeen which does have Horn Drill, but it does not have a way to boost its Speed as it doesn't have Agility, and while we get the first appearance of Omastar in the Free Battle videos, its only good match-up is against Sandshrew, and even then it needs Hydro Pump to hit, otherwise it will take a huge hit from Sandshrew's Earthquake.
It was good that I managed to inflict poison onto Golduck with Sludge, but I did have to deal with Ice Beam's chance of freeze, as well as Surf, but at least I did have some good match-ups for some of the CPU Pokémon, with Raichu, I did have Marowak, and I did have Koffing to take on Tangela, and while Magneton does have Thunder to take on the Water-types, it depends on if I can get Thunder to hit, there is a reason that I prefer Thunderbolt when using Electric-type Pokémon, and they don't even give it Thunder Wave, which would have helped Magneton against some opponents.
