Pokémon Sword & Shield Online Battle 230
0I used: Malamar, Alolan Raichu, and Omastar
My Opponent used: Cinderace, Drednaw, and Corviknight
Stadium: Standard

Second online battle in a row where I come across another team that looks like something that was used in the main story, and both these players have used Cinderace against me. I did see my opponent had two Pokémon that weren't fully evolved, but they weren't used, so he went with Drednaw and Corviknight, as they are fully evolved.
This looks like a kind of team my Alolan Raichu would sweep through, not giving away whether or not I end up winning the battle, but from looking at his team, three of the Pokémon are weak to Electric, Cinderace does not have good defensive stats and is weak to Surf, and both Morgrem and Klink are not fully evolved. I do use Omastar in this battle, looks like he is never going to be used in a serious battle, because I like taking things easier if my opponent doesn't have a competitive team, although Cinderace's Pyro Ball can really hurt, because competitive or not, almost every player that has a Cinderace would have Pyro Ball on it.
I did at some point considering testing out an Eviolite Morgrem to see how that worked, but I couldn't find the right team to use it, and the best it could do is set up screens and use Thunder Wave to paralyze opponents, and it does have an interesting type combo of Dark/Fairy, but then again its evolved form Grimmsnarl sees way more use in online battles, and Morgrem doesn't have that good defensive stats, even if equipped with an Eviolite.
I do test out a Dark-type Pokémon on this team, and that is Malamar, she has an Assault Vest to allow her to take Special hits well, and Superpower with Contrary is an important set to use, and she does have some good STAB options like Throat Chop and Psycho Cut, and she has Liquidation for type coverage. I have bred and EV trained this Malamar since before the Isle of Armor update, and I don't ever get to use her online until now, and it had to be against an opponent that uses a team that is more suited for the main story, although his Cinderace did at least put up a good fight.
Anytime I come across Cinderace in my online battles, I know how dangerous that can be if you don't do anything about it, and it doesn't help that Cinderace is the most popular Starter Pokémon not only in online battles, but when going through the main story, and I don't frequently come across Drednaw that much in online battles, Corviknight used to be really popular in online battles, but I don't see too many players use them than back in the day.
