It is time to use Psychic-type Pokémon for Restricted Sparring, while a very powerful type, well the most overpowered back in Gen 1, this team makes use of Psychic Terrain to make the best use of some powerful Psychic moves.
I use Indeedee to lead the fight, this is the same Indeedee used in the Normal-type Restricted Sparring, and it is currently the only Pokémon available in the game to have Psychic Surge for its Ability. Indeedee has Expanding Force for his main move, while Mystical Fire and Dazzling Gleam are coverage options, and Trick is there to swap a Choice Specs out to screw up opponents.
Next is Alakazam, with a very high Speed and Special Attack stats, she has Expanding Force as well, and is equipped with a Life Orb, and she won't take any damage from it because she has Magic Guard for her Ability. Alakazam has some good coverage options, like Shadow Ball, Energy Ball, and Dazzling Gleam, making her one versatile Pokémon, although her Defense isn't that good.
For my Physical attacker, I chose Gallade, he is one of few Psychic-type Pokémon to have a higher Attack stat, he has Zen Headbutt and Close Combat for his main moves, I decided on Zen Headbutt for extra power over the more accurate Psycho Cut. Leaf Blade and Knock Off are good coverage moves, and my Gallade has an Assault Vest for the Special Defense boost, Gallade has a wide movepool, he can learn the Elemental Punches, Stone Edge, Aerial Ace, X-Scissor, Earthquake, Shadow Sneak, and many other moves.
While Indeedee and Alakazam are great Pokémon on Psychic Terrain, specially with the move Expanding Force, there are a good amount of options to choose from, like Slowbro, Starmie, Exeggutor, Espeon, Gardevoir, Reuniclus, Gothitelle, Beheeyem, Mr. Rime, Hatterene, Orbeetle, and a few others. For the Physical side, while Gallade is one of few Pokémon, another option is Galarian Rapidash, which can do well with its Psychic/Fairy-type.
As certain Legendary and Mythical Pokémon cannot be used in Restricted Sparring, Psychic is a very common type for Legendary Pokémon, so this does prevent use in Mewtwo, Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Solgaleo, Lunala, and Necrozma.
As far as Gigantamax options go for Psychic-types, Orbeetle and Hatterene are capable of Gigantamaxing, otherwise using Max Mindstorm on a more powerful Psychic-type like Alakazam is better.
While I did list the good options, some Psychic-type Pokémon work well in Trick Room, some options include Bronzong, Musharna, Reuniclus, Beheeyem, Slowbro, Slowking, and Hatterene. There are some lesser Pokémon that could prove to be a decent option, like Solrock, Lunatone, Meowstic, Malamar, Oranguru, Sigilyph, Claydol, Xatu, and a few others. While it was the most overpowered type in Gen 1 because not many Pokémon could resist it, and Alakazam was considered to be one of the best Pokémon back then, until Steel and Dark-type Pokémon were introduced in Gen 2 to balance out the overpowered Psychic-type.
