This week, I will be trading Chewtle through Surprise Trade, and right after trading Rotom, and if you are wondering what these two Pokémon have in common, this is a reference to the objectives in Pokémon UNITE where Chewtle's evolved form Drednaw is one of the objectives for your team getting a lot of experience for defeating it, and Rotom making goals defenseless. This wasn't my choice or anything, the list that I randomized picked Chewtle for this week.
I breed for 31 IVs in at least 4 or 5 stats, and I did get a Shiny Chewtle during breeding, which had 31 IVs in all tats except for Special Attack, which is 0 and it has the Hidden Ability of Swift Swim, and it is an Adamant Nature, which is the Nature I went with for Chewtle, so if you ever you see me using a Shiny Drednaw in any Max Raid Battle events for Sword & Shield, that is the Shiny Chewtle that I got through breeding. I made sure all Chewtle had Swift Swim, Strong Jaw isn't bad as Drednaw does learn a lot of biting moves like Crunch and Ice Fang, Shell Armor isn't worth having on it.
Chewtle has three Egg Moves, those being Dragon Tail, Gastro Acid, and Skull Bash, it does have its first move, either Tackle or Water Gun, while Water Gun does get STAB, Chewtle does not get a good Physical Water-type move until it evolves where it can relearn Razor Shell, I will list which parents in the Monster and Water 1 Egg Groups that can learn those moves.
Dragon Tail: Dratini, Dragonair, Dragonite, Milotic, Druddigon, Tyrunt, Tyrantrum
Gastro Acid: Seismitoad, Pyukumuku
Skull Bash: Squirtle, Wartortle, Blastoise, Avalugg

None of these Egg Moves are that useful, but I do like breeding Egg Moves on Pokémon, and going over Chewtle's level up moves, as I said, its starting moves are Tackle and Water Gun, and it can learn Bite, Protect, Headbutt, Counter, Jaw Lock, Liquidation, and Body Slam, Jaw Lock is the signature move of the Chewtle line, it has 80 power and it prevents the user and the target from switching out until either of them faints. It will learn Rock Tomb upon evolving into Drednaw, and when evolved, it can relearn Razor Shell, Crunch, and Rock Polish, and it learns Head Smash through level up.
Next is Drednaw's TM and TR moves, I did look up Chewtle's moves, and it doesn't learn that many moves, so I will be going over what Drednaw can learn, for TMs, it can learn Dig, Rock Slide, Whirlpool, Revenge, Dive, Sand Tomb, Rock Blast, Payback, Assurance, Ice Fang, Bulldoze, False Swipe, Smart Strike, and Stomping Tantrum for possible moves, and for TRs, it can learn Swords Dance, Earthquake, Waterfall, Megahorn, Iron Tail, Superpower, Iron Defense, Poison Jab, Stone Edge, Stealth Rock, High Horsepower, Throat Chop, and Body Press, I didn't list any of the Special moves, like Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, and Earth Power, because Drednaw's Special Attack is really low, and you should not be using any Special Attacks when using Drednaw. For Tutor Moves, it can learn Skitter Smack, Scale Shot, and Meteor Beam, and out of these, I don't recommend Meteor Beam on Drednaw, the other two can be decent, but they are not the best moves to have on it.
Drednaw is capable of Gigantamax, and as with online battles, Dynamax tends to prefer, that way Drednaw can summon its own rain with Max Geyser, because when Gigantamaxed, its Water-type moves become G-Max Stonesurge, which sets up Stealth Rock on the opponent's side of the field, which means Drednaw has to give up one of its moveslots for Rain Dance or have a teammate that can set up the rain.
The best moves for Drednaw are Liquidation for its main Water-type move, Stone Edge for its Rock-type move, although Head Smash is more powerful, the recoil damage does make that move a high risk high reward type of move, and I don't really like using Head Smash unless it's on something like Tyrantrum which has Rock Head. Drednaw does get some nice coverage options, Earthquake and Superpower are possible moves, and its fourth move is Swords Dance to boost its Attack stat. Scale Shot can be a nice alternative for boosting its Speed at the cost of Defense, and a decent option is Giga Impact for a very powerful Max Strike when Dynamaxed.
Drednaw is rarely or almost never used in Double Battles, it is 4x weak to Grass, so if Rillaboom is on the opposing field, Drednaw is not lasting a single turn, and there are better Swift Swim users, like Ludicolo, Kingdra, Barraskewda, and even Seismitoad are used more than Drednaw.
Drednaw is good in the main story, the downside is that it is really weak in the Chewtle stage, it is stuck with Water Gun for its Water-type move until it evolves, and while it does get Bite and Headbutt, they don't get STAB, the nice thing about getting Drednaw is that once it is evolved, you can give it Razor Shell, Rock Tomb, and Crunch, and it is set to battle.
