With all of the Gigantamax Pokémon out of the Max Raid Battles, we get an event focusing on Steel and Rock-type Pokémon, which is live until July 31st. Before starting this video, I show that the milestone for how many players defeating Zeraora in the Max Raid Battles has been achieved, and to get the Shiny Zeraora, you need to have Pokémon HOME on a Mobile device, go into Mystery Gift and receive it before July 6th, you will need to have deposited a Pokémon from Sword & Shield into Pokémon HOME, and then you can get your Shiny Zeraora. There is also a Mystery Gift code which will give you some Armorite Ore.
This Zeraora is at Level 100 with a Hasty Nature, and its moves are Plasma Fists, Close Combat, Blaze Kick, and Outrage, so those are some powerful Physical moves it has, it will have 5 maximum IVs in all stats except for Defense, which will be 30.
For this Wild Area Event, it will take place on the Isle of Armor, because if you complete any Max Raid Battles there, you can earn some Armorite Ore, which can be used for many things, like digging for Watts and learning new Move Tutor attacks. I do put my Hidden Ability starter Pokémon to the test, and they can Gigantamax, and out of the forms, I like Inteleon's Gigantamax form, and while I don't mind Cinderace, I don't like the long ears, and I like the concept with Rillaboom, but other than that, those are some G-Max Forms. At the time of recording this video, Armorite Ore wasn't available for the Rock and Steel-type Max Raid Battles, but it is fixed as of now.
The following Pokémon that appear include Onix, Steelix, Rhyperior, Coalossal, Perrseker, and Copperajah, so those are about some good options for Rock and Steel-type Pokémon that you can find.
Then to go over the Hidden Abilities, Onix has Weak Armor, while its evolved form Steelix has Sheer Force. For online battles, Sturdy is the Ability you will want, and Steelix is a great user of the move Body Press, and when combined with Iron Defense, it can deal some huge damage. It's other notable sets include Stealth Rock and Dragon Tail, or you could go with Curse and Gyro Ball, aside from that, Steelix is a Pokémon with great Defense, it doesn't do well against Special Attackers.
Next is Perrserker, while it is overshadowed by better Pokémon, its Tough Claws Ability does let it stand out as a Physical attacker with moves like Fake Out, Iron Head, Close Combat, Play Rough, and the new Tutor move Lash Out, which doubles in power if any of Perrserker's stats are lowered on that turn. Its Hidden Ability is Steely Spirit, which gives Perrserker a 50% boost to any of its Steel-type moves.
While Rhyperior is tough to use in Single Battles due to having weaknesses to common types, it does at least get Solid Rock for its Ability, and it is a great user of the Weakness Policy. Its Hidden Ability is Reckless, which you should not take over Solid Rock if you are doing online battles. Rhyperior does see good use in Double Battles, specially in Trick Room teams when paired up with a Dusclops with Bulldoze, along with Rhyperior's Weakness Policy, this Pokémon is devastating in a Trick Room team.
You can find Gigantamax Coalossal in the Max Raid Battles, and its Rock-type moves turn into G-Max Volcalith. The nice thing about the Max Raid Battles on the Isle of Armor is that if you do enough, you can collect Max Mushrooms around different parts of the Isle of Armor to make Max Soup that will change a Pokémon's Dynamax to Gigantamax, this is good for players that prefer to breed for competitive Pokémon. Coalossal's Hidden Ability is Flash Fire, but Steam Engine is the preferred Ability, and Coalossal sees more use in Double Battles, as it can make use of the Weakness Policy, and have a teammate use Surf or Aqua Jet to give Coalossal maximum Speed, and it can be used either as a Physical or Special attacker. If going as a Special Attacker, Coalossal can make good use of two new Tutor moves, Scorching Sands is a Ground-type Scald that has a chance of burning the target, and Meteor Beam is a two turn attack, but it can boost Special Attack if used on the first turn, so those are some nice options for Coalossal.
The second Gigantamax Pokémon from that event is Copperajah, its Steel-type moves turn into G-Max Steelsurge, and that Steel-type Stealth Rock effect is unique to it. Its Hidden Ability is Heavy Metal, which works well with moves like Heavy Slam and Heat Crash. Other than that, Sheer Force is a good Ability for it, as it can use moves like Iron Head, Play Rough, Rock Slide, and a few other moves, and with a Life Orb, Copperajah can get in some heavy hits. With a low Speed stat, Copperajah is another Pokémon that does great in Trick Room teams, and it can get the new Move Tutor attack called Steel Roller, which has 130 base power and will only work if any terrain is in effect, and it will destroy the terrain, so I can see this move being useful against opponents that use terrain to their advantage.
