Here is the Comfey gameplay video that I have recorded about a week ago, and I have decided to put up right now. Comfey did get leaked, but I wasn't aware of its leak until the moment it was announced, and whenever I saw speculation about Comfey being added, I didn't even believe them. The next few Pokémon have leaked, I think it is around five or six, I only saw about two of the leaked Pokémon, and they are some interesting picks, not going to spoil who they are, but I hate it when upcoming Pokémon are leaked months before they are even announced.
Going over Comfey, it is a Supporter with an interesting gimmick, its Ability is Triage, Comfey gains flowers after a set amount of time, and it can only have up to eight flowers at a time, and it regains four flowers when it enters tall grass, and its flowers are consumed if it uses Synthesis or any of its upgrades. Its movement speed is increased when near ally Pokémon with half remaining HP, and it can attach itself to ally Pokémon when it uses Synthesis, making it not affected by attacks, and any Aeos Energy collected by the Pokémon if they have the full amount, Comfey can take the excess amount, and it can score the same amount of energy when the Pokémon scores a goal. Its basic attack gives it two flowers whenever it uses a boosted attack every third attack.
Comfey's starting moves are Vine Whip and Synthesis, Vine Whip deals damage and decreases the movement speed of opposing Pokémon, and Synthesis is the move that allows Comfey to attach itself to ally Pokémon, giving them a shield, and it restores the ally Pokémon's HP, the healing effect is based on the amount of flowers Comfey has, and if you select release, you can stop being attached to ally Pokémon and move to a designated direction.
At Level 4, Comfey learns Floral Healing or Sweet Kiss, those replace Synthesis, Floral Healing is almost identical to Synthesis, the difference is that any HP restored is converted to a shield in excess to the Pokémon's maximum HP, and Sweet Kiss can be charged to increase the range, and it infatuates any opposing Pokémon, the effect is longer the more flowers Comfey has.
At Level 6, Comfey learns Magical Leaf or Grass Knot, those replace Vine Whip, and they can be used when Comfey is attached to an ally Pokémon. Magical Leaf has Comfey shoot leaves at the target for a set amount of time, and it can even damage opposing Pokémon hiding in the tall grass, and if the same opposing Pokémon is hit six times, it will leave them unable to act, and it has an increased area of effect when Comfey is attached to an ally Pokémon. Grass Knot deals damage to opposing Pokémon and leaves them unable to move, and it can hit up to two opposing Pokémon, the second Pokémon is pulled to the first Pokémon's location and it deals additional damage.
Comfey's Unite Move is Flowery Fields Forever, which is learns at Level 8, Comfey creates a field of flowers which keeps it hidden from opposing Pokémon, and it heals ally Pokémon that enter the field of flowers, Comfey gains special flowers which boosts Floral Healing or Sweet Kiss.
At Level 10, Floral Healing or Sweet Kiss are upgraded, and both of them increase the movement speed of ally Pokémon for a short time when used, while Sweet Kiss has that effect while charging. At Level 12, Magical Leaf or Grass Knot are upgraded, Magical Leaf has Comfey shoot four leaves per second, and Grass Knot has an increased area of effect.
Comfey's playstyle is almost similar to Blissey and Eldegoss with the ability to heal allies and provide shields to them, but it is based on how its teammates play, I tried CPU battles with Comfey, and I didn't even know you can detach from allies when I first tried out the new Pokémon, and that costed me two matches because my teammates would not go for Rayquaza and not prioritze on the more important objectives.
Comfey did receive some buffs in a recent update, but this video was recorded before the update, Comfey pairs well with items like Exp. Share, Buddy Barrier, and Energy Amplifier, and Slow Smoke is the ideal item, as that allows Comfey to use it while attached to ally Pokémon. Magical Leaf and Floral Healing are its best moves, this pairs well with Comfey's playstyle, while Sweet Kiss and Grass Knot work for drawing in opposing Pokémon and disabling them for a short time. It is a tricky Pokémon to use, and I don't normally like to use Supporter whenever I play this game, and I am not a fan of Comfey's playstyle, specially in CPU battles when your teammates don't even do anything to help out.
