To tie in with Halloween at Mer Stadium, Mimikyu is now in Pokémon UNITE, this is the similar to the event from years ago. You can throw Pumpkins at opposing Pokémon to turn them into Pumpkins, and they use Pumpkin Tackle to knock back opposing Pokémon, it does not deal damage, and Battle Items cannot be used during Halloween at Mer Stadium.
Mimikyu is an All-Rounder, and its Ability Disguise is what its playstyle is based around. It starts battle in its Disguised Form, when attacked, its HP is decreased by a set percentage, damage is nullified for a set amount of time, and it changes to its Busted Form. A revenge mark is applied to the Pokémon that attacked Mimikyu, and its movement speed is increased when approaching revenge marked Pokémon and deals increased damage to them, and after a set amount of time, it returns back to its Disguised Form, but the cooldown can be reduced if Mimikyu knocks out an opposing Pokémon.
Its basic attack becomes a boosted attack every three attacks, striking twice with an increased area of attack, or when Mimikyu uses a move, its next basic attack becomes a boosted attack.
Its starting moves are Astonish and Scratch, Astonish damages opposing Pokémon with an area effect, and Scratch is a dash move that deals damage to opposing Pokémon and decreases their movement speed for a short time, Mimikyu can use the move again and attack in front of itself, and additional damage is based on the percentage of HP the opposing Pokémon has lost.
At Level 5, Mimikyu learns Play Rough or Shadow Claw, those replace Astonish, Play Rough hits multiple times when Mimikyu dashes into an opposing Pokémon, and the attack decreases the movement speed of opposing Pokémon, and when the move is finished, it jumps in a designated direction. Shadow Claw deals damage to opposing Pokémon and decreases their movement speed for a short time, and it restores Mimikyu's HP, and the cooldown is reduced when Mimikyu hits an opposing Pokémon with a basic attack, and the number of times the user attacks when the move is next used increases, the maximum is 4 times.
At Level 7, Mimikyu learns Shadow Sneak or Trick Room, those replace Scratch. Shadow Sneak has Mimikyu extends its shadow, marking opposing Pokémon as a shadow target for a short time, it can extend further if it passes through tall grass or a wall, and it can deal additional damage to opposing Pokémon marked as a shadow target. When used again, Mimikyu moves to the shadow target, and can extend the duration of the opposing Pokémon's shadow mark, and if Mimikyu knocks out an opposing Pokémon marked as a shadow target, it restores HP and the move cooldown is reset. Trick Room has Mimikyu create a bizarre area around itself, and if Mimikyu is affected by a movement speed decrease while in the area, it is converted to a movement speed increase, and it takes reduced damage from Pokémon outside the area. When used again while in the area, Mimikyu can dash a set distance.
Mimikyu's Unite Move is Play With Me..., which it learns at Level 9, Mimikyu leaps at an opposing Pokémon and traps them inside its rag, dealing damage overtime, and Mimikyu is granted a shield, the trapped Pokémon isn't affected by any Pokémon's moves except Mimikyu's, and if it loses its shield, it stops attacking and moves in a designated direction.
At Level 11, Play Rough or Shadow Claw are upgraded, Play Rough has increased movement speed when it is finished, and Shadow Claw deals additional damage based on the amount of lost percentage of HP of the opposing Pokémon. At Level 13, Shadow Sneak or Trick Room are upgraded, and both moves have reduced cooldown.
Mimikyu's playstyle is about its Ability, it can deal increased damage to marked opponents, its Unite Move can be good for disabling targets, but its downside is that when in Busted Form, it isn't the best at taking hits, making Mimikyu best at taking on single targets. With Shadow Claw, Mimikyu can attack more than one opponent compared to Play Rough, and Shadow Sneak does pair well with the reset cooldown based on the use. It can work with Focus Band, Weakness Policy, Muscle Band, Attack Weight, usually items that are based around Attack and Defense.
