After 11 years since the last 2D Mario adventure in New Super Mario Bros. U, unless you count the Deluxe Port for the Switch, here is Mario's new 2D adventure. Mario and friends arrive at the Flower Kingdom, which is ruled by Prince Florian, and during their meeting, Bowser takes the Wonder Flower and uses it to merge with the Flower Kingdom Castle and trapping the inhabitants, and it is up to Mario and the others to help Prince Florian restore his castle.

As for the rest of the description, I recommend watching the full video before reading past this point of the description

Super Mario Bros. Wonder takes place in the Flower Kingdom, and you have many playable characters, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toad, Toadette, Yoshi, and Nabbit, there are a total of 12 playable characters, that is counting both Blue Toad and Yellow Toad and four different Yoshis. This game is also Daisy's first appearance in a main series Mario game since her debut in Super Mario Land, unless you count Super Mario Run. One thing to note, the Yoshis and Nabbit cannot use power-ups, they don't take damage, making them best for beginners, Yoshi can eat enemies, and Nabbit can convert power-ups into flower coins, the rest of the characters don't have anything different to them.
Time to start the adventure, and we enter the Flower Kingdom, the level is called Welcome to the Flower Kingdom!, and you can find talking flowers throughout courses, and it has Goombas throughout the course. There is a new power-up introduced in this game called the Elephant Fruit, this will transform the player to the Elephant Form, this form can destroy blocks, and you can store water in the trunk, which can be used to water plants and flowers, awarding coins, and if you have water stored, when you make it to the end of the course, the player can water the Poplin inhabitants that are rescued.
Each course has a Wonder Flower, which appears if you interact with a blue flower, and the Wonder Flower causes Warp Pipes to move, one of them turns into an Inchworm Pipe, and the course has three 10-flower coins, those award 10 flower coins, and you get a Wonder Seed to end the Wonder Effect, and you get one at the end of the course.
Next course is Piranha Plants on Parade, Piranha Plants are the most common enemy in the course, and this one is where the Fire Flower first appears, you can use that to take out the Piranha Plants in the course. The Wonder Flower effect for this course has the Piranha Plants move and sing to the rhythm, and it is an auto-scroller, and a Wonder Seed appears when the song is finished, and this course does have a normal exit and a hidden exit, the hidden exit takes you to a small area around Petal Isles, and we meet up with Captain Toad, a recurring character in the Mario series, he even got his own game.
Next course is Scram, Skedaddlers!, the Skedaddlers are the new enemies in the course, they usually run very fast, and they fire seeds at the player, which can be used as platforms, one of them is even used to get one of the 10-flower coins in the course, Skedaddlers can even carry 10-flower coins. The Elephant power-up can be used to destroy the yellow blocks, the Wonder Flower effect for this course has shooting stars coming down, and you can use the Super Star, or Starman, whatever you want to call it, to destroy the yellow blocks, and the 10 second timer is reset when you collect a Super Star, and the Wonder Seed is held by a Skedaddler, and that leads to the end of the course.
After the course, we arrive at Pipe-Rock Plateau, and Bowser has taken over many of the courses, and Bowser Jr. guards one of the castles, some of them are guarded by Piranha Plants. The first one is a Badge House, it requires one Wonder Seed to enter, and a Poplin will give you a badge, which Prince Florian can equip and provide effects, the first one is the Parachute Cap, where the character can use their hat as a parachute, it's not restricted to Mario or Luigi, even Yoshi can use the Parachute Cap, even though he doesn't even wear a hat. Then we get put to a test in using the Parachute Cap, and it is time to start Pipe-Rock Plateau.
We will need 10 Wonder Seeds if we want to get to the castle that Bowser Jr. is guarding, the first course I take on is Bullrush Coming Through!, Bullrush is a new enemy that charges if you get close to them, you can use them to destroy blocks that you cannot normally break, and some lead to 10-flower coins, and you can ride on them. The Wonder Flower effect has a horde of Bullrushes charging, and they knock down the regular Goal Pole, and you take a different path leading to a hidden goal, and this one awards a secret Wonder Seed, you mustn't pick up the Wonder Flower if you want to take the normal exit.
