Perhaps a better video than the last so I may just replace it. In the previous video we drove the GLI out of the city where I initially noted that it was hard to shift quickly from 1st to 2nd under full load at the top of the rev range. This 2nd gear hanging did get better as the video went on so it may have been a matter of the gear box warming up. While it's true this car won't shift from 1st to 2nd under full load as quickly as my 2010 Honda Civic 5 speed did it does offer some other advantages. Almost a polar opposite of the Honda, this car is easier to shift smoothly at lower speeds. Shifting the Honda from 1st to 2nd at lower speeds (lower load, lower RPM) was difficult to do smoothly. The Honda liked to shift into 2nd at higher RPM while this car shifts smoother in general at lower speeds. They're just different and of course coming from one car to another requires some time to get used to. I almost think there may be two factors at play here. Again while this car will never shift as quickly as the Civic at the top of the rev range it has gotten better and this is likely a combination of the gear box being warmed up and me getting more used to it. I'll also point out that I'm not driving like that on a daily basis. Even when I want to get a little spirited on the daily commute I'm not necessarily trying to shift from 1st to 2nd at redline as quickly as possible! I can have as much fun short shifting into 2nd and letting 2nd do most of the work since the car does have long gears and pulls harder in 2nd anyway.

The audio in the previous video was also pretty brutal. I had my Tascam audio recorder in my coat pocket and it turns out that was worse than just using the internal microphone on my shitty Go-Pro clone as bad as that mic is it seems the Tascam being in the jacket was just causing muffled distortion. This while not great is at least a little better than the previous video.
