This game feels a bit weird to control when playing on an emulator and it took me a while to get used to it. It's still way more fun than Turbo OutRun and I'm sure the experience is much better on a real arcade machine. Took Dumplechan's advice to always downshift instead of using the brakes. However - I did use the brake during one corner in stage 5 (timestamp 4:55) and depending on circumstances - during a few turns in stage 4 (mostly corners prior the big turn before the jump). That small adjustment made the difference and I was able to win all 5 races in a row, which then unlocks the Extra Stage (no downshift, only tapping the brake in that one, easy stage)
