Prehistoric Planet Pack Test Run! Part 3: For Peat's Sake
10This VOD is the 3rd part of my test run for the Prehistoric Planet Pack for Oxygen Not Included! In this video, we get our first new Intracosmic Blastshot made! This requires refined metal, Peat, and Biodiesel. We have enough Peat to dig from the map for that to not be an issue for now, so we're also going to use some of it to burn for power to run our Metal Refinery and the Blastshot Maker. However, it turns out that the main drawback from the Peat Burner is heat: the 200 g/s of Polluted Water produced by each machine comes out at a minimum of 110° C, so compared to room temperature Peat each burner is actually generating over 70 kDTU/s of Heat! We build some Ice Makers to help deal with this as they still delete around 64 kDTU/s of Heat per building since they got buffed in the Frosty Planet Pack DLC, but this results in about half of the power generated being wasted on cooling, so not the best plan. Additionally, it turns out you can't use Gold to make Blastshots, so we have to generate a lot more heat with the Metal Refinery than we thought! So overall, things are heating up. The aim of this run is for learn about all of the new DLC content so that we can see how it might fit into future base designs, particularly when the Relica biomes are shuffled into more normal asteroid types.
