π¬π§ Psion Organiser II: Part 1 (Quick Look) [TCE #0510]
{Re-upload: adjusted audio levels ... using new microphone for the first time}
I've always been fascinated by these quirky, handheld computers. The original Organiser was released in 1984, with the much more capable Organiser II range being available from 1986 until 1996 - ten years!
The Organiser II is a programmable & expandable PDA, which is why I find them an interesting device. They have two slots for removable DATAPAKs containing battery-backed RAM, an EPROM or EEPROM with data or applications.
It also has a communication port that can be used with a variety of add-on hardware.
The programming language OPL ... originally Organiser Programming Language, then later Open Programming Language ... can be used on the machine itself or transferred via the communication port.
There's quite a few excellent videos on YouTube covering how to write programs and modern hardware modifications, so I don't want to (poorly) re-hash them in my videos. But we'll try copying a game across in the next video.
