A popular modification made by Zoid. The mod itself can be considered the "king of CTF" as it helped to popularize the genre, although the earlier TeamFortress had capturing flags as one of its main objectives.

The game plays like the title says: go to the enemy team's base, steal their flag, and take it back to yours. The four runes also serve as additional powerups, and only one can be held at a time. These runes are kept until the player's death and cannot be dropped manually.

The mod supports all the main Quake maps, from both campaign and deathmatch. In an update, a new custom episode for the mod was introduced that included 8 maps original to this mod. Another episode was added in a later update that included 8 more maps, as well as a start map to allow players to vote on what episode they wanted to play on. So I decided to play all maps from those custom episodes in this video.

The mod would eventually return as a game mode in the Quake 2021 remaster, which includes 8 of the maps from the original mod (4 from each CTF episode, albeit numbered differently), as well as one new map.
