Afterburner II is an arcade rail-shooter developed and published by Sega for the arcades in 1987. The game received several ports to various different systems, but the version shown here is the Sega Genesis version, first released in 1990. Much like the original Afterburner, in Afterburner II players take control of an F-14 Tomcat, dodge enemy missiles, and shoot down enemy planes in an attempt to earn a high score. The game offers 3D-esque graphics, and allows the player to select the background music in the options menu, which is a nice touch. There's not really too much to say, as it's pretty standard late 80s, early 90s arcade fair. With this Genesis version players are given multiple continues, and can listen to the music in the options menu as a bonus. Overall a solid game, though a bit on the basic side.
