Note: This game is still available for .99 cents on the Xbox 360 store. If you're interested in getting this game, you have until July 29th, 2024. On or after that date the Xbox 360 store will be closed, and only Xbox 360 games marked as backwards compatible on the Xbox One will be available for purchase, and only from the Xbox One Store.

Panzer General Allied Assault is a video game adaptation of the board game by the same name released exclusively for the Xbox 360 as a downloadable title. The game was developed by Petroglyph Games (who also developed the The Great War: Western Front which released in 2023), and published by Ubisoft in 2009. In the game, players can choose between playing a campaign, single scenario, or multiplayer game, as either the United States or Germany. The focuses on the end of World War II in Europe, and begins with the Normandy Invasion, specifically Utah Beach. As a board game adaptation, players are given a set of cards, which can be broken into tactical cards (air support, surprise attacks, logistics, etc.), combat cards, and unit cards. Unit cards can be used to summon new units on the battlefield. The game takes place on a grid, and only one unit can occupy each grid. Gameplay is in a I Go, You Manner, with casualties given/taken at the end of the attacker's turn, and then allowing the defender to attack. Combat is done through the use of combat cards, with firepower outcomes influenced by unit strength, supporting units (such as artillery or adjacent friendly units), and then a die roll, which can add or subtract from your firepower total. As long as your attack strength beats the defender's defense strength, you'll inflict damage. The scenario objectives vary from holding specific terrain to the total destruction of enemy forces. Overall this is actually a fairly engrossing game, and one I would like to actually try the board game for if the opportunity arises. I do wish it included the British Army as well, as it feels a tad limited in gameplay and scope without them, but it's otherwise a fun tactical game, taking usually 30 minutes per scenario in my limited experience. It also has a serviceable music score and good sound design.
