Quick Play - RE Volt [Dreamcast]
Re-Volt is an arcade racing game developed and published by Acclaim Entertainment in 1999 for the Nintendo 64, Microsoft Windows, Sony PlayStation, and the Sega Dreamcast (the version shown here). In Re-Volt players control an RC car of their choosing (from around 30 different models with various "skill" levels) in a variety of tracks ranging from roofs, to a wild west town, to the local neighborhood. Players can play a variety game modes, including single races, championships, time trials, and stunts, among a few others. Gameplay wise the controls sometimes feel a bit loose or slippery, though a large part of this depends on the choice of car, but overall the game is really solid once you adapt to the physics. The music is really good, and the graphics are really sharp and detailed on Dreamcast as well. The A.I. is good, and the arcady nature of the game, which includes numerous power ups such as rockets, water balloons, and electric shocks, make for a fun time.
