Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction Part 17: Hack the SIXAXIS
So, after figuring out that the giant creature that we killed had a Leviathan soul, we then get access to the hacking machine of the game. Now, I’m fairly sure (Don’t quote me on this), there has been a different hacking mini-game for each game so far and this one is probably one of the most confusing one. Do you remember when I said it felt like they were trying to squeeze as much SIXAXIS into the game as they could? I don’t mind the free fall or the flying but using it to hack is very odd. In order for us to hack a machine, we have to guide a current of electricity through a circuit board. The way we do this is by move the entire board and trying to place a metal ball over an intersection where the current needs to travel through to make it to the end. It feels very awkward doing that and I hope that it’s not in any of the other Future games. I don’t mind that they are implanting the SIXAXIS into the hacking, in fact I think it would be cool to control a current of electricity through an obstacle course but, trying to move the ball around feels a little stiff/slower than I think it should be. I’m probably the only one who thought the hacking wasn’t good in this game but I do have to give my thoughts on it. Regardless of my thoughts on the hacking, the rest of the map gets opened up to us and allows us to explore quite a bit. There are even some sections that can be reached by flying which makes the map feel a little bigger than you might think.
