Rec Room VR With The Kids - The Backrooms All Seeing In The Oculus Rift S and Meta Quest 2
What better way to spend a snow day with the kids than by jumping into our Quest 2's and my Rift S and taking them into Recroom. Looking back, I guess they had both been in there once before a few years ago but at the time were too young to really enjoy it, so I figured now that they are both a bit older and since RecRoom has basically become the Roblox of VR they would enjoy it and yep... I was right!
Immediately after getting everything set up my oldest daughter saw the game The Backrooms All Seeing in the list and dared me to play it! Now, you guys know I am not really all about the VR horror games but since I was gonna be in this one with my kids and since It was just some "silly little Recroom game" I thought, " What the heck, it can't be that bad right?"
Well, I am happy to say I was wrong.. This was far from some simple little mini game and I immediately had a sense of dread akin to the early days of VR horror playing games like Dreadhalls or Alien Isolation. Even though the graphics in this were very basic and everything had an air of simpleness to it, I actually got scared out of my mind a few times!!! It really goes to show that even the most basic of games when presented right can totally immerse a player and The Backrooms is definitely one of them!
Overall I have to say I had an absolute blast playing this with my girls and we all decided that we would for sure be doing this again... and next time maybe we will even find a way to get my wife in here so w can bring family gaming nights to a whole new level! If you have not yet experienced RecRoom you have to check this out... it has grown into an amazing Vr experience for players of all ages and I can't recommend it enough.
