Bungie, the developers of Destiny, have gifted a currently one-of-a-kind in-game weapon to a brain surgery patient who played Destiny during his recovery. Apparently, in the last year, the patient, Eric, has had seven brain surgeries and suffered memory loss as a result. After Eric spoke to his doctor in great depth about being excited for Destiny to come out, he was actually encouraged to play it during recovery, and had awesome results. Eric’s wife wrote on Reddit that his doctor suggested games can work as great physical therapy for those suffering memory damage, and apparently Destiny worked wonders.

After hearing about Eric’s case, presumably via Reddit, Bungie community manager Devid “Deej” Dague reached out to Eric and sent him a care package, including the currently one of a kind Fate Of All Fools scout rifle. Aww. Well, I hope Eric has a swift recovery, and enjoys his super rare scout rifle.
