Some guy has set a Guinness World Record for the “Highest Altitude Video Game Console Session” by playing Far Cry 4 in the Himalayan mountain range at an elevation of 18,569 feet above sea level. This was actually part of a competition Ubisoft were hosting, where one lucky winner – in this case, a man named Will Cruz – would get to play the game on Mount Everest if they submitted a YouTube video saying why they were most qualified for the trek.

Cruz is a 23 year old from Utah, and Ubisoft have described him as being a “hiking enthusiast” though he hadn’t left the US prior to the competition. So, basically, he travelled to Everest Base Camp and hiked up Kala Patthar with a team of 15 people including video crew and a caravan of yaks who were responsible for transporting the TV, generator and all of the equipment needed to play the game. They reached the peak on October 11th and played the game for 79 minutes, with temperatures as low as 17 degrees Fahrenheit. I wonder if it was all worth it for that sweet, sweet world record?
