Beam Rifle's back as the Plasma Cutter, with some meatier visuals and sound design, as well as a little more complexity in how it plays.

As in R1, this gun is all about ramping up its damage, going base damage to 2x damage in about 2s, or from base to 3x with the mod on in about 4s. As this damage ramp is specific to each enemy, this makes it a weaker choice for mobbing, best used for elites or bosses only.

Unlike R1 though, the ramp-up is strictly time-based, so increasing your firerate won't speed up how quickly you ramp up the damage. While you could stay away from firerate buffs to spend more of your magazine at max damage, that's also hurting our DPS - instead, we're going to be using a combination of the Heat Sink mod and our Gunslinger Prime perk to quickly refill our magazine without going through a reload animation and losing our damage ramp.

Is the extra damage enough to justify the overheat management and weakness vs mobs? I'm honestly not sure, but it's a fun gun and has the advantage of doing well even if you've rolled an elemental resist boss.

Archetypes:

- We're going with my Devloop Dakka setup, so Gunslinger Prime for the instant reloads, and Bulletstorm for the firerate buffs for DPS and faster Devloop procs.

- Hunter will be our 2nd archetype - as the Plasma Cutter has a lower crit chance than the other full autos and no free slot for Corrosive Shot, we're going to need as much crit as we can, so Hunter's Focus is our pick, with Hunter's Mark as our 2nd choice in fights where we're forced to dodge a lot.

- A more unusual setup you could also try as suggested by @Ratore is to use Invader's Reboot skill to instantly refill your magazine without breaking stride.

Weapons & Mods:

- Plasma Cutter, of course. While it has a slightly lower crit chance than other full autos, it makes up for this with its higher firerate. Momentum as always is the best pick for full autos - NB: it may look particularly good at the moment as it's giving 60% Crit Damage at max stacks instead of 30%, though that should be fixed soon.

- For our secondary, I usually like Cube Gun since that benefits from overheat gear as well - Cube Gun projectiles suffer at longer range shooting however, so we're going with Rupture Cannon for this one, with Song of Eafir to help with the Root Flyers. While we'll be using Pipe Bombs to proc our bleeds, I'm also taking Twisted Wounds to refresh bleeds in a pinch.

Trinkets:

- Fairly standard crit gear here with usual suspects Abrasive Whetstone, Zania's Malice, and Probability Cord for those juicy crits. That takes our Plasma Cutter crit chance to 95%, which Devloop can take advantage of for those skill refreshes.

- As with my Bonesaw Build (https://youtu.be/cs_OTMuxwMc), we're using Constant Variable Ring to get some more damage out from Overheating. We don't want to use Microcompressor however, as it ends up cooling the gun down too much during Heat Sink so we lose out on Constant Variable's damage.

Traits:

- Pretty standard fare, the only priorities are Spirit for the faster mod generation and Footwork to let us strafe out of danger while firing. Even Expertise can be dropped because Devloop.

Relic:

- Free choice of relic here, but for fragments we'll want Crit Chance and Firerate for the Devloop procs, and Crit Damage or Weakspot Damage.

Armour:

- Free choice, I like this specific combination as it's right at 50 weight. And it looks cool.

Playstyle:

- Proc Abrasive Whetstone with Twisting Wounds, then activate your skills and go to town. Try to stay in Hunter's Focus and simply strafe out of the way of danger rather than dodging, whenever possible.

- When you're running low on your magazine, either activate Heat Sink or Bulletstorm for an instant reload. Avoid manual reloads whenever possible. The animation may also give your Plasma Cutter a chance to cool down.

- When you're close to overheating, switch to your sidearm, proc the bleed, then switch back - that should be enough to give Plasma Cutter a breather.
