Remnant 2 // Cancer - Firestarter Archon Build (AR-ME) - Apocalypse - No Hit?
Does this count as a no-hit? I'm not really sure, but it sure as hell was easy. Cancer cured in under a minute with some very simple execution.
Firestorm's proved one of the more popular mods with its huge AOE and good damage, but its gravity / tracking properties are a double-edged sword, proving equally good at killing the player as it is at killing enemies. With this build however, you won't ever have to worry about that.

Archetypes:
- Modspam? Archon. Our skill choice may surprise you though. Chaos Gate is the natural choice for modspamming, but is very risky in this fight as it requires you to stay put, which is a big no-no with Cancer's root attacks, and the red aura also makes it very difficult to see attack tells. What's more, our mod generation is already kinda crazy, so we won't actually need Chaos Gate to spit out a Firestorm every couple of seconds.
- Instead, we're taking...Havoc? You see, the biggest threat when using Firestorm is getting caught in its gravity pull as it follows a boss right to you - if you're caught in the centre of multiple Firestorms, no amount of rolling or sprinting will get you out. However, Havoc gets you some excellent dodges with no stamina cost, meaning you can easily get out of dodge.
- Medic's Healing Shield will be our 2nd skill, giving us some vital overshield and healing to get out of trouble. With these two panic buttons, you'll be able to escape the pull of even multiple Firestorms, which is more than we can say for a lot of bosses.
Weapons & Mods:
- Your actual choice of guns is up to you, though I found a nice rhythm with Coach Gun - 2 shots to charge up Firestorm, fire it off, then reload. I've put on Bulletweaver for the bonus mod gen and to counter the firerate penalty of Burden of the Follower, but once the other mod generation mutators have been patched, they might be better picks.
- Firestorm is amazing at not only doing damage in a large area, but also keeping bosses locked in with its gravity - while a single Firestorm doesn't have quite enough pull to keep some bosses in, once you start stacking them together they'll keep them wrapped up tight. Unlike other mods such as Tremor, overlapping Firestorms isn't a complete waste - the Burn DoT of each Firestorm doesn't stack, but the constant damage ticks of Firestorm itself do. The primary goal though, isn't damage efficiency, but keeping the boss tied up with multiple Firestorms.
- On my Double Barrel, I've got Harmonizer (NB: only its level 10 bonus is working right now), with Witchfire which does good damage. Again, spamming Witchfire won't apply more than one burn stack, but it will refresh the existing stack, and is separate to Firestorm's burn too. Unlike Firestorm, you actually don't get more damage by overlapping 2 Witchfires, so don't be a dummy like me and spam them willy-nilly. You could go with a more direct damage mod, but keeping both our mods fire-based means we can best use of our fire-based trinkets...
Trinkets:
- Avoiding any of the items we're expecting patches for, the only mod generation trinket we're going with is Burden of the Follower, and frankly that's enough to keep us spamming.
- While the usual route is to stack crit, a fair chunk of our damage is actually going to be Burn DoTs which can't crit, so we're splitting it - Talisman of the Sun gives us a nice boost to our direct damage and a very nice +50% to our Burn DoTs.
- Singed Ring is good value with a rare multiplicative bonus, while Firestone is useful for both its damage and resistance bonuses.
- Burden of the Gambler is going to be our sole source of crit, which will come in handy for the non-Burn damage.
Traits:
- A few important picks here. Amplitude increases the AOE on Firestorm, which helps keep enemies locked in - it does make it much more dangerous to us though, which is why Kinship is a must. Together with the rest of our Fire Resistances, this will make the main threat of Firestorm its gravity, not the damage itself.
- Regrowth will work with Triage to counteract Reprocessed Heart's health drain, and Spirit and Expertise are natural choices as well. With little need for dodging, I've invested nothing in Stamina.
Relic:
- Reprocessed Heart again for some huge mod generation in exchange for some risky grey health conversion. For your fragments, Mod Damage, Elemental Damage, Mod Cost and Mod Duration are all decent picks.
Armour:
- Only essential here is the Crown of the Red Prince for the huge Fire Resistance.
Playstyle:
- You'll want to get those Firestorms running asap. Until you have multiple running on the boss, they're still going to be quite mobile, so be ready to slap on your Medic Shield and Havoc Form, and spam evade to escape.
- Your priority then is to keep those Firestorms running, with some Witchfires mixed in for more damage. Dump your mag, fire off a storm, repeat, ???, profit!
