Replica is a very simplistic graphics novel game. It has charming pixel art and some interesting concepts. The game is pretty short and interesting. You’re going through someone’s phone who is a suspect in a terrorist attack and you must decode the phone’s passwords and gather clues and send them to “homeland security”.

Graphics:

The game has very simplistic pixel art where all you see is a hand holding a phone and the screen of the phone is your gameplay area. The background is black and white. This makes a very unique graphical experience and in my opinion it was quite nice looking. The game is locked at 60 FPS. It doesn’t really matter in this type of game but there were no frame drops.

Sound:

The game has very slow music which is very nice. I loved the music in the game, you can even change tracks from within the phone’s music app.

Gameplay:

You’re put in charge of ‘hacking’ through someone’s phone and you must find clues from text messages’ notifications to find out the phone’s lock. After you’ve unlocked the phone you get the story going where you and your parents are in the custody of homeland security and you must do what they say in order to free your parents. The whole paranoia theme of terrorism is going on throughout the story of the game. The government wanting to control people and not trusting a rebellious teenager and labeling him as a terrorist because he’s wearing a Che Guevara t-shirt and or using non-government approved email client.

The game is quite short. You have apps in your phone which you can open to collect clues. The “to-do” app is your main go-to app to find out what your missions are. You get apps like Facebook, Twitter which you have to crack passwords of to find information about your target. It’s pretty simple, some of the clues can take some time to figure out but overall very short game which can be finished in less than an hour.

Conclusion:

Very simplistic and stylish game. Some nice story theme in it. Made by one person alone. Very short game but worth the $3 in my opinion.
