One of my favorite games of all time on the Super NES was Joe & Mac. It was a stupid-fun side scrolling brawler with great graphics, amazing gameplay and just silly fun. When I got back into retro gaming one of the games I wanted was Joe & Mac and, while not overly expensive it wasn't cheap. I've also not been able to find it anywhere but eBay either. Thankfully Data East and Retro-bit have partnered up to release the Ultimate Caveman Collection, a new cartridge for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System or the Super Famicom that has all three games from the Joe & Mac universe. That's right, there are three games in the Joe & Mac Collection, who knew?

From the get-go Joe & Mac played and looked great on my TV. Everything was exactly as I remembered, from the great level design, fun enemies and amazing sound effects. The soundtrack does get repetitious though as the same tune is played through each level on continuous loop from start to finish. Thankfully it's an enjoyable tune but there's little variety here. If you want to see more gameplay of Joe & Mac we did feature some live streaming at https://youtu.be/_Na44SdiM0A

After the nostalgia trip that was Joe & Mac is was onto something new in Congo's Capers. I had not heard of this game before and didn't know anything about it. The best way to describe it is Joe & Mac Jr basically as you play as Congo, a man-monkey-boy..thing? Congo has a club, just like Joe & Mac for his attacks. The game is really fun and much more difficult too. I was a little confused with the slot machine thing that popped up when you collected certain jewels but other than that game play is really good. And tough. Did I mention this was a hard game? Much like the Joe & Mac the music is the same track over and over, but again it's catchy and fun. I've only gotten to the second level but I definitely want to spend more time with Congo soon.

Wrapping things up is Joe & Mac 2 which brings in a lot of new components to our cavemen ninja while maintaining the same, fun sprites, awesome sound effects and HUGE end bosses. Joe & Mac 2 is the the most challenging out of all three games, but not unfairly so. I never thought a death or defeat was cheap, I just wish I was better at the game! You can see more footage from Joe & Mac 2 in our live stream here: https://youtu.be/KIFT5Dy4AlE

Why it RoX:
- Exactly the games I remembered, perfect replica
- $35 price for 3 amazing games
- Allows me to play Congo's Capers which I didn't know was part of the series
- Great bonus items with the buttons and decals
- Works on Original SNES and Super Famicom consoles plus popular clone systems

What could be improved?
- I need to get better at Congo's Capers and Joe & Mac 2, these are HARD!
- Tight fit on the cartridge protector
- While the games themselves are better some may object to the same pricing as other Retro-bit carts with 1-2 more games
