In this episode of Retro Flashback, I take a look at the arcade and NES versions of Double Dragon. This is one of the most popular and historically lauded brawler titles and is what the now defunct Technos Japan is best known for. Unfortunately, it's a game that in my opinion, it best seen with nostalgia tinted glasses on and doesn't hold up all that well now. Both the arcade and NES versions were very popular so I decided to take a look at them both to showcase their similarities and differences.
Double Dragon can be purchased digitally on the Wii Virtual Console which can be accessed via the Wii Shop Channel. It has also had numerous remakes and reinterpretations, including for the Game Boy Advance, iOS and an excellent reboot called Double Dragon Neon for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 which was features on a series of All Together Now that you can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKv847dmrbDNR53d2nhNfe11hrwPaytgE.
