In this episode of Retro Flashback, I take a look at the arcade edition of RoadBlasters. This is a really awesome racing game that combines combat and endurance driving with unique score and progression mechanics. It's accessible but also rewards hardcore, precise play and skill iteration. It's very odd to me that this never got a sequel as it was successful and well regarded. This is one of my favourite arcade games and I'd love to see someone try a modern twist on this. Accept no substitute, the numerous home versions of this game can't hold a candle to the arcade original!

RoadBlasters is not currently available for digital purchase but is available in the Midway Arcade Treasures retail compilation pack for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube.
