In this part of the Retro PC series I start the assembly of the AdLib card. To warm up, I solder all the IC sockets on the PCB. Those are purely optional. You can solder all the ICs directly. However, it allows for simple replacement of broken ICs. And since I am using old stock here for the Yamaha chips, I don't want to risk anything.

In the next part we will solder the rest of the components, and after that take the card out for a test ride...
