This video is a bit out of order from my usual retro PC series. I also managed to get hold of an Octek Fox M 286 board, which supports SIMM RAM modules as well as sporting a 16 MHz AMD 286 CPU.

This quite tiny and fast board is great, but upon first power up blew a capacitor next to the power supply input. After discussions in the retro forums, I decided to replace all larger tantalum capacitors on the board, because some of them must have experienced an overvoltage that damaged them.

I have never done a refitting of that many capacitors on a board of such complexity. So will the board survive...? Can we make it work? It would be a neat board to use and be able to run many games more efficiently, by supporting EMS (via Octek drivers) or XMS. Also Windows 3.0 and 3.1 can make great use of the extra memory in protected mode.
