An often-heard complaint about the XMB interface is that there is too much wasted screen real estate. A couple of display options got added that helps correct this basic fundamental design issue with the XMB.

It's now possible to have both left and right thumbnails in the XMB user interface, and unlike before, they will now scale automatically and are aware of text positioning!

In this video, you can see how we are able to change what mode each thumbnail gets set to. For instance, we can decide to set boxarts to the left, while we set screenshots or title snaps to the right, or vice versa. Any combination is possible.

If you don't like any of this, though, you can decide to disable the left thumbnails and just stick to the default.

Hint: You can change the mode of the right thumbnail by pressing the Y button on your gamepad. It will flick between 'boxart', 'thumbnail' and 'title screen' mode.
