I first visited the Whittaker Iron Mine in June of 2010 but did not explore it. I finally returned to it this past weekend with camera and gear in hand. The tunnel was several hundred feet long with a couple turns. I believe, though, that the main workings of the Whittaker Iron Mine were in the huge quarry higher on the mountainside.
