We decided to go on a hike to find the Anchor Mines in our local Laguna Mountains. Not much is known about these mines, and their exact location was a mystery. We began hiking up a very old mining road dating from the late 1800s and, by accident, happened to stumble across what we believe was the main Anchor Mine. This adit was flooded with about a foot of water, and there was a bat gate installed in the adit. We explored the area and found other smaller diggings throughout the ravine. We also did some target shooting with a FNP 9 mm handgun and a Smith & Wesson 686 .357 Magnum revolver while we explored the ravine.
