The Sheep Creek Mine was a talc mine located just outside the southern boundary of Death Valley National Park. Topographic maps indicated three entrances at different elevations. We discovered that the uppermost entrance had been obliterated by a quarry. Being that talc is very soft and crumbly, we were not surprised to find many collapses and cave-ins inside the mine as we explored it. Other interesting highlights of the mine were the double-tracked ore bin, a "double-decked" tunnel inside the mine, and a very unusual-looking spider.
