The first four levels of Ripton, a clone of the first Repton game written by Kenton Price (of Mole Miner fame). Ripton has somewhat different graphics from the original Repton and ten all-new level designs, but the gameplay is largely very faithful (albeit somewhat jerky, which explains the number of occasional small slips I make). There are a few differences: there's no limit on the number of eggs, they can't be shuffled, and they continue to fall if they land on a curved surface. Monsters prefer horizontal movement when they can, and they can make sudden lunges if you hesitate too often. (I have no idea about the rock that remains poised on another rock on the third screen in this video; an unpredictable glitch, I think.)

Screen A, based on the original game's Screen one, is a nice starter level with a few traps if you do things in the wrong order. Screen B is the most interesting of the early levels, a very nicely designed easy-but-not-too-easy level, fun to solve and with a few nice puzzles. Screen C is closely based on the original's Gecko; in this longplay I am not attempting a pacifist run as I did on Repton, since it will be impossible on the later levels, but this screen is possible to complete in pacifist style in the same way as Gecko. Finally, Screen D is a simple little puzzle with only one diamond; the key is in the centre and you have to leave the rocks in a configuration that makes it possible to get out again.

The music for this video is "The Entertainer" and "Gladiolus Rag" by Scott Joplin.
