A play (with review/commentary) of Hunter's Moon, originally developed by Martin Walker (with music by Matt Gray) and published by Thalamus in 1987. This gameplay footage was captured under emulation with VICE 2.4 running on Mac OS X.

Hunter's Moon is a great early example of the thinking-person's shmup. Whilst it may look like you can just make progress by blasting your way through the levels, you do need to learn how they work before you can progress in them.

That alone makes it quite worth the play (at least if you want something more from a blaster), but the excellent presentation, the tight physics, and the easy to pick-up nature of the gameplay have made this one of those games I quite enjoy going back to every now & then.

More retro gameplays (along with other bits & pieces) can be found on my playlists page: https://www.youtube.com/user/hellfire64/playlists

Finally, if you enjoyed this video, do leave a thumbs up, and as always, subscribe for more gameplay goodness!
