The success of British forces at winning hearts and minds in Afghanistan and forcing out Taliban insurgents has seen a 90 percent drop in the workload of a powerful frontline rocket launching system.

The Royal Artillery's Multi-Launch Rocket System was first deployed to theatre during Op Herrick 6. The precision-guided weapon can launch single rounds with pinpoint accuracy, reducing the chance of collateral damage.

But as more and more areas of Helmand are seized from Taliban control, the MLRS is needed less and less, with a 90 per cent decrease in rockets fired in the past three years.
