Republic of Kerbin has built a new platform for launching smaller space capable craft into orbit.

Rather than strapping on bigger and bigger and more expensive boosters on a smaller "short range" craft, costing more, and many times boosters are not reusable, or destroyed in typical Kerbalnaut launches.

This new Flying higher altitude platform allows for moderate atmospheric launches of craft as shown.

Typically can get to a height of 8000-10000 meters before launching, takes a while to fly higher, but is capable, and there's more than enough fuel onboard to stay aloft for a LONG time.

The test launch vehicle uses a single Rapier engine, and can attain low orbit, but unable to maintain a stable permanent orbit, however, it does work as a proof of concept.

Its unknown the exact flight time and range of the main Strato Launcher platform.

RoK Engineers have designed a 2nd (Mk.2) version of the Strato Launcher, and installed a Docking port on under side of the launch wing, though not built yet, they plan to retro fit the first prototype shown here, however, it seems to have disappeared, once the main test ship was launched, and got out of range of the launcher, the RoK Space Center also lost them from Radar... altitude wise they were doing fine, but just seemed to totally vanish, no one knows where they went, if they crashed, entered some sort of trans dimensional space portal or what.

Eventually once they are found, they will outfit it with a Docking port, the main goal will be to launch the test ship, using Rapier air breathing engine mode, fly away from the launcher, and either loop or bank around, and try to catch up, or simply slow down and let launcher catch up, then try an atmospheric docking maneuver, if they can with out total catastrophe.

Pilot wise, they plan to out fit both test ship and main launcher with Probe/Drone cores, and control from ground or via satellite grid already installed in orbit around Kerbin.
