My first attempt at making a level for Romhack Races, which is a community where you take part in weekly "who's first" competitions featuring various SMW or SMB2 levels. Or you create levels for people to play. Anyone can take part as a level creator, but mind some time constraints when RHR restream goes live. Detailed info can be found on community's Discord.
I went with an idea for an SMW level. I definitely had a lot of fun making this, and it was surprisingly well received despite its puzzliness and difficulty. I got praised for making something you wouldn't normally think of when you think about a kaizo shell level, and for many brainy setups. Actually, this is my dev favorite. Version present on my video is something that could've been submitted to the weekly race. It adds a layer 3 mist effect in the 1st sublevel and includes fixes, such as anti-cutoff when you grow one vine, or de-cheese at the end of the 2nd part. Funnily, I entered as 7 up (another one of my aliases) and this is a week 317 level in 27th season.
9 people finished the level, but there were some more who signed up for the race. That's what a brain twister my course was. Three people ended the level after over an hour. Unfortunately, nobody managed to finish the level after more than 1,5 h. And, of course, there were many unusual events over the weekly race. All of these can be seen in the credited video.
