Sailor Moon: Another Story (SNES/Super Nintendo) JRPG Let's Play #01 Ami & Ryo (Voice Recorded)
This is the first part in the Let's Play of the Japanese Role-Playing-Game Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon: Another Story - or "Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon: Another Story" translated directly from Japanese to English, but as the "Pretty Soldier" part in the name got cut in the overseas release of the anime it's simply named "Sailor Moon: Another Story" in English.
The game was released in 1995 in Japan only and has since received a few fan-translations. I did actually play an old translation back in 2008 that I had actually recorded without speaking from beginning to end on my old youtube-channel. Every episode was at 10:59 minutes long and it was a walkthrought of the game.
In that translation a lot of the text was translated for an English audience rather than an American audience. Also, it didn't have any "grind be gone"-perks so I were forced to cheat during Sailor Mercury's story as the game became too difficult.
There is a new translation for the American public available since September 1st, 2021 - and it comes with a "grind be gone"-perk which cuts all the random battle encounters in half while also doubling the experience gained after battles and the yen (money) - I am also using the optional "Swiss manicure" patch which replaces the item "Schwartz" with "Manicure" (Temporary ATK +5) at Keines Village item shop, to help finish Chapter 2/Mercury.
Chapter 2 was really difficult I recall and back when I played the game using an old emulator I used the GameShark cheats to beat the game. I had made each character OP from that chapter and onwards because I was more interested in the story than beating the game fair and square.
Now I'm instead trying the latest patch. So Sailor Moon is a manga and anime that was aired in the 90's and in the early 2000's - I used to watch it on TV in the early 2000's at about the same time period I watched Pokémon. So between 1999-2001 I believe. I actually liked it, as Dragon Ball Z didn't air in Sweden - we had Pokémon and Sailor Moon when I was a kid - then in 2002 I got the DBZ manga.
Alright, while the main cast consists of magical girls it still had a dude that caught my interest - the Tuxedo mask. The show has a lot of fights against demons and they're pretty violent for a girl-focused anime.
The game continues the story of the anime with its own unique story and it's really good! The music is awesome, the story is great and the graphics and the battles are similar to that of Final Fantasy VI.
I only ever watched the first season of the anime as a kid as the rest weren't aired here in Sweden. Later I did watch fan-translated episodes on youtube that were removed since - a fan had translated the first few episodes of season 2 into Swedish using Swedish subtitles. Unfortunately that's illegal in Sweden to add your own Swedish subtitles and counts as copyright infringement - despite it being legal in other countries - I guess it's because Swedish authorities doesn't want Swedish kids to watch certain things without them having some kind of control.
