FINAL FANTASY VI: DIVERGENT PATHS - Expanded Content Hack #02 (SNES/Super Nintendo) - South Figaro
0I'm playing Final Fantasy VI (6) for the SNES or Super Nintendo - here using the hack "Divergent Paths" which is a huge hack for the game expanding the content of the original game, the playable characters and their stories while keeping the stats/balance and the original game intact. The hack was released this year in 2022 and is very recent.
Final Fantasy VI is a Japanese-Role-Playing-Game released for the SNES/Super Nintendo in 1994, later remastered for the PlayStation in 1999, for the GameBoy Advance in 2006 and for the PC not too long ago.
The SNES/Super Nintendo version of the game is the original version of the game released in 1994, but the hack "DIVERGENT PATHS" was released this year. The SNES-version has a darker and grittier look compared to the GBA-version which I like, it has slightly superior sound and music even compared to the "Sound Restoration hack" - because the hack couldn't restore everything 100%. The characters, areas and towns are smaller in the SNES-version which is the only bad thing here. The GBA-release had the camera more zoomed-in on them - while the SNES has the camera more zoomed-out - probably that's because the GBA used a very small screen so they needed to be bigger. I do prefer the bigger sprites there but not the fact that everything is lighter and less dark.
I have never played FF6 before in the past as a kid, even though I did own the game on the PlayStation 1 and did play a little bit of it in the early 2000's on my PS2. I have played this part played in this episode two times prior to this video - and recorded it once using the GBA-release.
If the music is not high enough like in the GBA-video that's because I've then made a mistake lowering it too much - but now it should be way louder than in the GBA-video - if my voice can't be heard I have also made a mistake having the music too high. Use the maximum volume to hear my voice and the music if that's the case. I do always use maximum on my headset.
Compared to the PSX-version the SNES-version should have the same quality in sound and music, it will probably look worse, it has faster loading times and thanks to the "Diivergent Paths"-hack this version has much more expanded gameplay and story content.
I will be visiting South Figaro and be checking out all the houses there, plus am playing everything from Kefka's visit to Figaro Castle and unto I decide to leave South Figaro.
