Saints Row 2 Part 10. Personal attacks gone wrong. (Normal New Game Semi-Blind)
Part Synopsis: Reattempting the Ultor mission portion now armed with an Annihilator RPG, the choppers are destroyed very easily. Doing the interview, Jane Valderama sabotages the conversation; although insists it's for the greater good and will help out in the longer run. Another Ronin stronghold at the Hombolt Park Science Museum is done. Reaching a restricted area, several mainframe servers are destroyed.
A hostile aircraft is brought in and shot down, ending the task. Johnny learns from an enemy gang member that their group is headed to their headquarters. Four bikes need to be taken out before then. This later increases to seven. Things are complicated as manual aiming is the only way to shoot their smaller sized vehicles. Shogo and the Ultor group are having squabbles based on the unwanted exposure from everything.
The Museum Pier stronghold follows afterwards. At Aisha's home, she's been taken hostage by Jyunichi and some other goons. Despite trying to warn Johnny as he and Playa return, she's savagely killed in the process. Fighting everyone inside, Johnny is critically injured. Holding off an oncoming horde of Ronin, Pierce arrives and the three make it to a hospital in time.
Playthrough Information: This is a semi-blind let's play. Having messed around with Saints Row 2 back on Xbox 360, I never beat the game in full. As for specific plot details after the point where I stopped, I'm entirely unaware of what happens. I will label this series as blind when back there. My focus will be the story missions and strongholds as part of conquering the city.
Side activities or full completion will not be showcased. No online/co-op will be included. Moments in between points I want to showcase won't be included. Retries on tasks will be edited as needed to not repeat the same material repeatedly. The extra DLC single player content has been bought and I intend to feature it. All videos will include commentary and webcam usage. Gameplay shown on the digital version of Xbox Series X through backwards compatibility.
About Game: Saints Row 2 is a 2008 action-adventure game developed by Volition and published by THQ. It is the sequel to 2006's Saints Row and the second installment in the Saints Row series. The game was released in October 2008 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, January 2009 for Microsoft Windows, and April 2016 for Linux. Saints Row 2 directly follows from the events of the first game, as the player's custom character awakens from a coma after five years to find that their gang, the 3rd Street Saints, has been disbanded, and their former territories taken over by newly-formed criminal syndicates and a corrupt corporation. With the help of new and old allies, the player attempts to rebuild the Saints and take back Stilwater from their rivals.
Story missions are unlocked by trading in "Respect" points, currency earned by completing minigames and side-missions. Outside of the main story, players can freely roam Stilwater, which has been expanded with new locations and consists of two main islands. The game is played from a third-person perspective and its world is navigated on-foot or by vehicle. Players can fight enemies using a variety of firearms, and call in non-playable gang members to assist them.
Saints Row 2's developers opted for a more comedic tone to set the game apart from the Grand Theft Auto series, with which the original game was compared by most reviewers for their similar premise and gameplay elements. Reviews were largely favorable, praising the action and straightforward gameplay, while only criticizing technical issues. The game had sold around 400,000 units by November 2008, and 3.4 million units by September 2010. A sequel, Saints Row: The Third, was released in November 2011.
Sales: Saints Row 2 sold approximately 365,000 copies in its first month, outselling Dead Space, which was released the same day. The Xbox 360 version comprised the majority of these sales. The game shipped over two million units by the end of 2008. Still, analyst Doug Creutz reported that the game's sales to this point were well below expectations.
Following Saints Row 2's January 2009 Windows release, the game had shipped over 2.6 million copies by the next month. In May 2009, THQ reported a $431 million loss in revenue, but Saints Row 2 sales totaled 2.8 million. Combined with the original release, the series had worldwide sales in excess of six million, making it one of the best-selling video game franchises. As of September 2010, Saints Row 2 has sold over 3.4 million units worldwide. The game's success led THQ to shift its focus to large franchises.
