i love jam project.
garo is one of those things that i actually want to watch at some point. no bullshit about "eh i might", i legit want to watch the show. i don't know much about it beyond the basic premise and it sounds really cool and holy shit the designs are so good. tokusatsu aimed at adults is really mixed because you'll have shit like ultraseven x which was so bad that i hardly watched two episodes and then you'll have stuff that is kinda decent like idfk shin kamen rider was alright, i saw that a little while ago. i still think that someone should adapt the original ishinomori kamen rider manga, that shit is fucking fantastic. shin rider took clear inspiration from the manga but it didn't really go the full mile. a lot of good manga aimed at adults hasn't really hit in terms of adaptations. the bits of the violence jack ovas i've seen don't really deliver on much else beyond the gore, which sucks because the format of violence jack as a sort of anthology with different focuses every now and again would work really well with a proper adaptation to ova form or something. don't even get me started on akira. i haven't watched the film but i am aware of the fact that it cuts basically the entire middle point of the manga out (the best parts) and in doing so basically just reduces akira a boogeyman who never shows up. the akira manga is really fucking good, i remember reading it during my period of total apathy towards ching chong media and really loved it. have they done a release of akira where it is actually formatted properly by now? the one i had was that 6-volume one where they mirrored it in order to make it read like a comic. i never got why they did that. i believe old viz stuff used to do that too, right? like, they did comic releases of fist of the north star and golgo 13 in the 90s, right? those were mirrored, i believe. the copies of golgo i own are the viz signature ones which are properly formatted but aren't really arranged in a chronological order.
i dunno.
i posted a joke about this on my community tab but my car really did get broken in to earlier this week. the one fuckin' day that i forget to lock my car is the one day that some upstanding, culture-enriching gentlemen require a computer for their advanced physics calculations that will cure cancer and save the world from being nuked. at least they just left it on the driveway instead of stealing it and didn't immediately just smash my windows or something. crime here is fucking bonkers and i hate it. these jackasses are the sole reason why there are precisely ZERO (0) vidja stores in my area anymore -- the nearest is at some shitty smelly mall. a few years ago (whenever the ps quintuple came out) the nearest eb games (fuck you, i'm not calling it gamestop) was subject to a fucking pickup truck packed in with criminal-types driving straight through the glass front doors and windows. the well-educated gentlemen then looted every single quintuple that they had + a ton of other shit. they shut down not long after. i don't like eb games, but it was at least nice to have a place around that carried controllers n shit. the young'ns in current year are going to have no options for buying vidja anymore which kinda sucks. then again, most kids are just on computers and tablets in current year and those who do own consoles just get them on amazon or whatever. i dunno. even as a kid, i was always a brick-and-mortar guy. i only started buying shit online when the stuff i was looking for quickly became far too niche to find at any store and even then i only shopped for shit online sparingly. sucks that physical stores are being phased out but i guess there's nothing much to be done about it.
that's the show for today. i've got a ton of shit on the go irl right now, so here's hoping that i come out on the other side better than ever.
have a wonderful day and a wonderful week, gentlemen. god bless.
