And we're back! OK, so the fire weapon HAS to work on the ice guy, right? Although, maybe I won't need it...

An ice level that doesn't such in a 2D platforming game?! Preposterous! So far the enemies seem rather harmless. Even the lumberjacks. I'm sure you all find it so very funny I was so cautious about a tree that can't hurt me unless it's chopped at me...

Making our way past some spikey enemies, and giving the Fire Wave a spin (wow, it DOESN'T burn through fuel like I figured it would...) we find....Dr. Light?! After some heartwarmin words...DASH BOOTS! Well, that's a welcome upgrade! For evasion or exploration, I'm sure they'll come in handy!

Mecha time! Man, this level is just one huge apology for Launch Octopus, huh? We can destroy certain structures with relative ease (makes bashing robots such a breeze?), but it can't jump too high...and yet there are signs I can take this thing up higher? Mystery to be solved for another day!

If you can't tell, I'm paranoid about secrets, which includes checking these pits and risking life and limb to see if a meager health upgrade or extra life can be found! I'm sure I'm missing so much though...

One last little thought....so far the weapons that have been provided for me don't chew through ammo, and I'm quite appreciative for that! It was my understanding that a lot of Robot Master powers in the classic Mega Man games often went through ammo like crazy, and that kind of discouraged me from trying a lot of them, to be honest. That and the ammo replenishments aren't in short supply! Even if you don't have a weapon equipped they still get refilled, huh? I'll assume the lowest one gets priority...or are they ALL filled?! That sounds too OP.

Boss time! Chill Penguin, you're toast! Or something. So yes, it DOES seem Fire Wave does more damage on him. Shocker! But even so, that isn't what I primarily wanted to use, so the ol' Buster will have to do!

Now....when I polled some friends as to who they usually fight first in Mega Man X, Chill Penguin's at the top of the list. With the Dash Boots being granted to you, I can see why, and the Penguin himself isn't too tough. That being said, there's still a lot to watch out for!

While the arena is small, very Classic-like in size really, Chill Penguin's arsenal of attacks is fairly dynamic for such an "easy" boss. His ice shots can cancel out some of my buster shots, for one, and while his slide is easily telegraphed and shots bounce off of him while sliding, if it collides, it hurts!

Adding to that, Chill Penguin can use his icy breath to create some penguin ice sculptures that are likewise impervious to shots (probably not fire though? Should have tested it out!). He can choose to slide right through them to trip you up OR jump up high to that little lever up top and summon some strong wind to push them into you. Still...pretty easy to dodge those.

What's odd is that he clearly can jump high enough so that the wall clinging strategy should be for naught...but that only happened to me once. Guess I just got lucky? Oh well. And with that final shot, turn away! Cool bots don't look at explosions!

And hey...no deaths! At all! Well, Chill Penguin came close, I guess, but I walk away unscathed! Maybe there's hope for a scrub like me yet...Or not, seeing as how the next video doesn't go nearly as smoothly. Join me next time!
